DAY 1 > BAN HOUEI XAI, BOAT TO PAKBENG
Meet at Chiang Khong (Thailand border) and transfer to Houei xai (Laos border). Then, board a boat for a scenic cruise down the Mekong River to the small village of Pakbeng.
DAY 2 > MEKONG RIVER CRUISE (B,L)
Visit a local market where H’Mong and other ethnic minority people gather to trade their products. Continue the boat journey to Luang Prabang. On the way, visit Ban Kock Aed, a small village of the Khmu hill-tribe. Lunch aboard. Stop at Pak Ou cave before getting to Luang Prabang.
DAY 3 > LUANG PRABANG (B,L)
Rise early to watch the monks collecting alms before heading to the nearby market. Then, visit the National Museum, Wat Mai and picturesque Wat Xieng Thong. Enjoy lunch before heading out of town to the beautiful Kuang Si waterfalls, set within dense jungle. You may also wish to visit the nearby sanctuary for Asiatic black bears. Tonight there is the option to learn to cook tasty local cuisine at a local restaurant.
DAY 4 > LUANG PRABANG, XIENG KHOANG (PLAIN OF JARS) (B)
Ttravel overland through magnificent karst mountains covered in dense jungle to reach Xieng Khoang; the province which is best-known for having been heavily bombed during Indochina War and of course the famous historic Plain of Jars.
DAY 5 > XIENG KHOANG (PLAIN OF JARS) (B)
Enjoy a morning tour to the Plain of Jars, one of South East Asia’s most enigmatic sights. After lunch, visit Muang Khoun, the old provincial capital, home to a unique sitting Buddha and several ruined pagodas.
DAY 6 > XIENG KHOANG VIENTIANE (B) –
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Vientiane the capital of Laos. On arrival , meet our guide, and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Evening free.
DAY 7 > VIENTIANE (B)
Explore the ancient city of Vientiane, situated on a bend on the left bank of the Mekong. It is Laos’ capital and her largest city. Visit including stops at That Luang, the holiest site in Laos, and Patuxai, Vientiane’s own ‘Arc de Triomphe’. We visit the oldest Buddhist monastery temple in the country – Wat Si Saket – and the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaeo, built to house the famed Emerald Buddha. End the day with a sunset dinner besides the Mekong River.
DAY 8 > VIENTIANE – PAKSE – CHAMPASSAK – DON KHONG (B,L)
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Pakse. On arrival, a short visit of Pakse town followed by a drive to Champassak. From here continue to Wat Phou, a pre-angkorian Khmer temple and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Ban Kiet Ngong, a small Lao village. Take a ferry to Khong Island on the Mekong River, the biggest island in south Laos.
DAY 9 > KHONG ISLAND – PAKSE (B,L)
Board a local boat to the peaceful islands of Done Det and Done Khone, sites of the only railway ever built in Laos. This Railway was built at the end of the 19th century. After a stroll through the palm-fringed villages, continue to the southernmost part of Laos and the imposing Khone Papheng waterfalls, near the Cambodian border. Driving back to Pakse to spend the night.
DAY 10 > PAKSE DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast, morning free before your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

RESERVATION & PAYMENT
All bookings will be confirmed by Pioneer Asia Holidays in writing along with confirmation of balance payment details. A deposit as required by us and the amount of which will be advised at the time of booking. Followed by the final balance of the cost by a specified date. The tour balance for all bookings will be direct debited from the payment details given at the time of booking 45 days prior to the departure date of the tour; if there is a failure to complete the payment Pioneer Asia Holidays reserves the right to cancel the reservation.
TOUR PRICES AND VALIDITY:
Prices quoted in USD per person in twin shared basis. Itineraries and prices are valid from the most relevant edition of the website & the time of printing our brochure in October 2015 until 31 Sep 2018. Pioneer Asia Holidays reserves the right to change any of the facilities, services, prices, itineraries or vehicles described in the brochure or online without being liable for compensation or refund.
CANCELLATION AND AMENDMENT POLICY
Cancellation and Amendment: Any cancellation or amendment request must be sent to us in writing and will not take effect until received by us. If you cancel or amend your booking the principal(s) or supplier(s) may charge the cancellation or amendment charge shown in their Terms and Conditions (which may be 100% of the cost of the travel arrangements) and you must pay us a cancellation or amendment charge of a minimum of $30 per person.
If You Cancel Your Holiday: You, or any member of your party, may cancel your travel arrangements at any time. Written notification from the person who made the booking or your travel agent on your behalf must be received at our offices. Since we incur costs in cancelling your travel arrangements, you will have to pay the applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown below; depending how many days in advance of the departure date we receive the cancellation instruction:
